We’re making a little holiday album for family and friends. I play the tambourine and piano and we pick the songs we love the most.
He chooses Little Drummer Boy, and we record a version so joyful, so rich at the crescendo that I feel like we represent an entire orchestra. We sing O Magnum Mysterium, Bon Iver’s soprano voice soaring.
And a few contemporary songs, too. Bon Iver always cries when he hears me sing River. I always laugh when he sings Last Christmas.
We make CDs and wrap them in hand-printed paper, and Bon Iver double stamps each little package with the postage that says ‘Love’.
